The Number One Kitchen Utensil – the Rubber Spatula

Whenever I go to the kitchen to make a good meal, a quick snack, or a sensational dessert, I am always reaching for my favorite product, the rubber spatula. There are two popular kinds, one made from rubber and one made from silicone. The major differences in the two spatulas would be the heat resistance and staining factor. Silicone is able to withstand a much higher temperature, up to 500-600 degrees Fahrenheit and has a high tolerance for staining. Both types are usually bonded to a metal or plastic handle, making it easy to use.
More important than its composition is its function. This product is so versatile, used in saucepans, mixing bowls, frying pans, and any other you could think of! Its most appealing function is its scraping action, able to make a tight sweep around any bowl to gather your ingredients. Not only are they great for mixing, but I use them often for frying and for cleaning out cans and jars.
If your kitchen lacks this number one product, or if you simply don’t use it enough, get it out! Use it! If you don’t know one, check out the link above or go to your local kitchenware store. I guarantee that your time in the kitchen will be more useful and less stressful.

It is easy to scratch the pans if you are not careful. It is important to invest in a few plastic/coated utensils as well, namely a whisk and many rubber spatulas. [...]
