My Favorite Appliance - The Kitchenaid Mixer
When I was a young girl, I always wanted a Kitchenaid mixer. I know that might sound crazy, but my aunts always baked the best treats, and they created them using their mixers! I remember when I was old enough, they told us whenever we got married, they would purchase us our very own mixer.
As I began working through wedding planning, it hit me - I was going to get my Kitchenaid! What a pleasant thought amidst the chaos. Needless to say I waited with baited breath - and there it appeared at my first wedding shower!
What is it about the mixer? Well more than simply the sentimental value, the Kitchenaid stand mixer is exquisite. It is marketed as being lifelong, chef-standard equipment. It is. I have only had my mixer for 4 years, but many I know have used them for twenty plus years, and they are still running strong. The quality is amazing as well. The quality doesn’t change from the first mix.
Its other great qualities include the adjustable speeds, the tilting head, and the various attachments. You can purchase attachments that can allow you to have a juicer, pasta maker, meat grinder, food processor, etc. The other “must-have” is the shield used around the edge of the stainless steel bowl to keep the ingredients safely in the mixer. Lastly, it comes with 3 different stirrers, including a whisk, bread hook, and a batter mixer.
My only complaint with the machine is that the stirrer doesn’t reach the bottom of the bowl, leaving a small layer of ingredients on the bottom. This is so the stirrers don’t scratch the bowl, but to me it is a frustrating feature.
